Join the Peel Food Action Council for the:
Gathering & Strategizing at the Grassroots
Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, 2021 • 1:00-4:00pm
A forum for food justice advocates, residents and groups in Peel to share strategies, map resources, connect initiatives & build community.
This two-day event is a facilitated forum for Peel-based community food voices–organizers, activists, agencies, residents and those working in solidarity and in intersecting struggles–to come together to celebrate, strategize and form new connections, shared goals, tactics and momentum moving forward. The format will be an “Open Space” session, guided by the question “How can we work together towards greater food justice in Peel?” This event is for ALL Peel voices, and is aimed at providing a platform for grassroots, community-level initiatives, and will centre the voices of BIPOC-identifying people and those with lived experience of food insecurity and systemic forms of oppression.
With live music from Peel’s own Alysha Brilla, teachings from Terrylynn Brant “”The Mohawk Seed Keeper””, and more, this will not be Another-Online-Meeting, but a gathering to celebrate our work for food justice and (re)connect our work with each other, the land and all our relations, for more effective, meaningful and focused organizing for food justice in Peel Region.
